Curtis McElhinney is a goaltender playing for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. McElhinney has been a backup goalie throughout his pro career, working his way up to the NHL in the Calgary Flames system. He spent two full seasons with the Flames. In the 2009-10 season, he was traded to the Ducks midway through the season. McElhinney got his first start and win of the 2010-11 season on October 21, 2010 as he made 40 saves against the Philadelphia Flyers. 2009-10 Season
McElhinney began the 2009-10 season playing for the Calgary Flames. On the trade deadline on March 3, 2010, McElhinney was dealt to the Anaheim Flames for Vesa Toskala. He would play 20 games between the two teams, finishing the season with a record of 8-5-2. He had a goals against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .902 on the year. McElhinney's First Win
McElhinney won his first career NHL game on April 11, 2009. He made 35 saves on 36 shots as the Flames defeated the Edmonton Oilers. During a post-game interview with the locker room reporter of the Calgary Flames, McElhinney got a shaving cream pie to the face from his teammates.
