Early Life
Curtis Granderson was born in Blue Island, Illinois, on March 16, 1981. He attended Thornton Fractional South High School. He continued his education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2002, he was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.Pro Career
On September 13, 2004, Granderson made his MLB debut with the Detroit Tigers. His breakout season came in 2006, when he appeared in 159 games and finished the campaign with a .260 batting average with 19 home runs and 68 runs batted in. He was named the Major League Baseball player of the week on July 16, 2007. On September 9, 2007, he became only the third player to register 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs, and 20 stolen bases in a single season.
