Career
As "Mr. Perfect," Hennig remained undefeated for the first year of his WWE career. His first loss on TV was to Brutus Beefcake at WrestleMania VI. In 1990, he won the Intercontinental Title twice from Tito Santana and Kerry Von Erich respectively.
Despite a back injury, which plagued him for the remainder of his career, Hennig fought Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1991, losing the title in a match Hart would later consider one of his favorites.
In WCW, Hennig joined the nWo and later won both the United States and Tag Team titles with Bary Windham. He was released from the company in 2000, and worked mainly on the independent circuit, despite appearances on WWE and TNA programming.
Death
Hennig died on February 10, 2003 at age 44. The autopsy report stated the cause of death was "acute cocaine intoxication."
He was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
