  • Career Overview

Original members Tim Kasher, Matt Maginn, Steve Pedersen and Clint Schnase founded Cursive in 1995 and released their debut CD, Such Blinding Stars for Starving Eyes, two years later in 1997. This first iteration of the band broke up after touring extensively in 1998, and released their second album, The Storms of Early Summer, that same year.

Kasher reformed the band in 1999, replacing Pedersen (who had departed to go to law school) with Ted Stevens. In 2000, the new Cursive released the concept album Domestica, organized like a play and based loosely around Kasher's own divorce. The band toured that year with At the Drive-In. Another concept album, 2003's Ugly Organ, earned a four-star review from Rolling Stone and earned the band a slot on The Cure's "Curiosa" tour, alongside Interpol, The Rapture and other up-and-coming rock acts. Kasher began splitting his time between his side project The Good Life and Cursive during this time.

Cursive's most recent album, 2006's Happy Hollow, received some of the best reviews of their career to date.
