On May 27, 2008, 7 police officers were killed and 4 injured during a raid on a house in Culiacan, Northern Mexico.
Two people were arrested as a result of the raid and several automatic assault rifles and boxes of ammunition were confiscated.
The city, in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, is the center of extensive drug trafficking operations and home to the powerful Sinaloa Cartel.
In recent weeks, President Felipe Calderon has sent more than 2,000 troops into the region in an attempt to regain control of the city.
