CTVOlympics.ca is a website based around the Canadian multi-media superpower CTV Globe Media, Canada's largest privately owned network. After bidding against CBC for many years, CTV finally won broadcasting rights to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, as well as, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
History
The site CTVOlympics.ca was established in early 2005 after the company was awarded broadcasting rights to the Olympic Games. It is the main source on the web for broadcasting of the 2010 Olympic Games as it will cover every second of every competition for the games in Vancouver.refhttp://ctvmedia.ca/olympics/aboutus/</ref> Due to the massive physical restraints of this task of covering every event, CTV has called upon a number of their affiliate stations to help broadcast the 2010 Olympic games.
Community and Culture
Given that it is a Canadian based website, the coverage is unprecedented for Canadians, and it is the first source many go to for news and updates of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. It has affiliated itself with Youtube, so that it can be the official media provider of the games.http://ctvmedia.ca/olympics/aboutus/ It's affilate stations that are broadcasting as well through the games include TSN, Rogers Sportsnet, RDS, Omni, and OLN to name the main ones.http://ctvmedia.ca/olympics/aboutus/
