Cthulhu Saves the World let the player control the famous squid-face god created by the horror writer H.P. Lovecraft in an adventure where the god has to regain his lost power by becoming a true hero. Seven characters can form a team to help Cthulhu in his quest of good.
Story
Cthulhu, a powerful squid-faced god, was sleeping in the sunken city of R'Iyeh and has now awoken. But all his power have disappeared and there is only one way to get them back: Cthulhu has to become a true hero and accomplish good things around him. For that, he will be joined by a group of adventurers and explore the land looking for some good deeds to accomplish.
Gameplay
Cthulhu Saves the World is a retro-style RPG, with 16-bit graphics, like the first Final Fantasy or games of this kind. The player takes first control of Cthulhu but will then meet other playable characters. Characters move on the map and can encounter enemies. Enemies can not be seen and each fight appear randomly. After 25 fights in an area, there are no more encounter unless the player choose to fight more using the option Fight in the menu.
Both melee and magic attacks can be used to defeat the monsters. Killing them will grant XP that will allow the characters to level up. Once a level goes up, the player has to choose between two options that will grant Cthulhu and his friends bonus for the game. Cthulhu can also make the enemies insane that will make them weak during the fight. But some monsters can also get stronger so this option has to be used carefully.
