Crystle Stewart, Miss Texas, is the winner of Miss USA 2008. She is the eighth Texan to win the title. On June 13, 2008, while competing in the 57th annual Miss Universe Pageant, Stewart, representing the U.S, tripped and fell during the evening gown competition.

Pageantry Background
Stewart is a graduate of the Barbizon School of Modeling. She won the Miss Texas USA 2008 title on July 1, 2007. It was her fifth attempt at winning the title. Previously she had taken first runner up in the 2006 and 2007 pageants. In 2005 she placed as a third runner up and only made it to the semi-finals in 2003.The 1st runner up behind Stewart in the Miss USA competition in 2008 was Leah Laviano. The 3rd runner up was Tiffany Andrade.
