Crysis is a science-fiction first-person shooter computer game developed by Crytek. Crytek is the creator of Far Cry which is another single-player first-person shooter game. Crysis is the first game in a planned trilogy. The game was released to the public in November 2007.
The theme of the game is set on earth in the year 2019. The game starts with a team of U.S. scientists making a discovery on a South China sea island. The North Korean government then seals off the area which results in the scientists losing all contact with the U.S. government which leads the United States to dispatch their Delta Force team to investigate and help the scientists. The tensions between the two nations rise until an alien ship reveals itself. The alien ship generates a force sphere that alters the weather system and freezes the island. The U.S. and North Koreans join forces to fight the aliens. As the player, you must fight battles in a tropical jungle setting, on frozen landscapes and also within the alien ship. Crysis has had great reviews since it was released. Some of the key features for the game are the need to adapt, engage and survive, the players are able to suit up to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield, there is customizable weaponry and a lifelike enemy called Veni Vidi Vici challenges the players to assess situations and to determine strategies. The game also boasts a zero gravity environment, next generation graphics that provide state of the art, scalable options, and an open, physicalized world where you can choose a path through the world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles and boats, and using the environment to fight the enemies. Storyline
Crysis is based on the fictional future, where an alien spacecraft reveals itself on an island near the coast of China. During the single-player game, players take on the role of the United States Delta Force operator Jake Dunn, who is referred to by the call sign "Nomad." Fights are held in four locations: a tropical island jungle, inside an ice sphere, inside the alien ship and on a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.
Gameplay
Crysis is an open-ended game with numerous ways to complete objectives. Nomad wears a military protype Nano Muscle Suit with four modes: armor, strength, speed and cloak. The different modes allow players to lift and throw heavy items and enemies, run faster, become invisible and reduce noise output. The modes are able to be changed by using rapid mouse movements, and draw from rechargeable energy reserves. Several weapons are available for use, including assault rifles, science-fiction additions such as the Gauss rifle, or alien weapons, such as the Alien Molecular Accelerator, each of which is able to be modified with attachments.
