This page is a full text walkthrough for Crysis, the 2007 science-fiction first-person shooter computer game developed by Crytek, the creators of Far Cry.
Most of the game takes place on a tropical island, where a group of archaeologists locate an ancient alien ruin buried deep in a mountain. Trouble ensues and the mountain is encased in a sphere of ice while the aliens assault on Earth begins.
Our game guide contains the information you need to beat the game and defeat its three bosses.
Below the main text walkthrough we have included links to other walkthroughs, faqs and videos. Use the table of contents to jump to a particular section.

Introduction
Nanosuit Abilities
- Nomad's nanosuit gives him special powers unavailable to normal soldiers. Each power is applicable to certain situations. Holding down the scroll wheel button on your mouse while in-game will allow you to quickly switch between each one (except for your binoculars).
- Armor
- While in armor mode, any damage you take will be subtracted from your suit power.
- Once your power is drained, damage will be taken from your health bar.
- TIP: Armor mode is most useful during battles because when using other abilities you will take damage more easily. If you must use other powers while fighting it is advisable to quickly switch back to armor after you do so.
- Strength
- Using strength will give you the ability to jump several times higher than normal, as well as pick up or punch large objects and throw them with great force.
- There are several areas in the game where you will be required to use strength to jump onto steep cliffs.
- TIP: Strength mode works as a very good strategy when grabbing enemy soldiers. You can throw them farther and knock over (and possibly kill) other infantry with them.
- Cloak
- Cloak mode will make you completely invisible, but will continually drain your suit power. Once the power bar is empty, you will become visible.
- If you stand still while in cloak mode, your power will be reduced at a lesser rate than when you walk or run.
- Also, if you attack while in cloak mode, you will instantly become visible and your suit will switch to armor mode.
- TIP: If you are trying to bypass enemy soldiers by using cloak, keep your distance from them. Even though they can't see you, they may hear you and start firing in your general direction.
- Speed
- Using speed mode simply makes you walk and run faster than normal. However, while you are running your suit power will be drained very quickly.
- Speed mode is useful for quickly moving through open areas, but is not recommended for use during firefights.
- TIP: Before you use speed mode, check your GPS to make sure there are no enemies around. If you come across any, make sure to change back to armor mode before engaging them.
Weapon Customization
- You will pick up several weapon attachments during the game, and you can switch these on and off using the weapon customization menu.
- The pistols and the rifles have non-interchangeable attachments. For example, the laser pointer for the pistol cannot be used on the rifle.
- TIP: Try to customize your weapons before entering a firefight. The game will not pause while you are in weapon customization menu, thus making it harder to do on-the-fly.
- NOTE: You can also enter weapon customization menu by pressing C on your keyboard.
Enemies
- KPA Soldier
- The KPA Soldiers are the grunts of the North Korean army. They are prevalent in the first half of the game, but do not appear after the Core level.
- Most of them are armed with a FY71s or shotguns, but some carry pistols instead.
- When fighting soldiers, aim for the head. Their body armor can take several hits before they go down.
- If a soldier gets to close to you, then a "Grab Enemy" message will appear on your HUD. When this happens, you can press your Use key (default F) to pick him up. Press your Use key again to throw him.
- KPA Nanosuit Soldier
- Midway through the game, the North Koreans are found to have their own nanosuit soldiers. Nomad describes the suits as "cheap knockoffs" compared to the ones owned by the US Military.
- Enemy nanosuit soldiers generally carry precision rifles and submachine guns, although some of those found in and around the excavation shaft carry miniguns.
- Since their nanosuits are similar to yours, they will use cloak, strength and armor modes just like you. However, while they are in cloak mode you can still locate them on your GPS system.
- General Kyong
- General Kyong is the first boss character you meet in the game. You will fight him after the cutscene in which he opens the door to the alien temple.
- As bosses go, Kyong isn't that tough. Aim for his head and watch out for the bullet spray from his minigun.
- Alien Ectomorph
- Alien Ectomorphs are found throughout the Core level in Crysis.
- Since the Core level is without gravity, Ectomorphs can attack from all directions, both horizontally and vertically.
- Ectomorphs move very fast in the anti-gravity environment. Their main attack is a melee charge that can be devastating to your suit power and health.
- Normally, one or two point blank shotgun blasts will kill them instantly.
- Just like KPA soldiers and alien troopers, if you are close to them, you can pick them up and throw them.
- Alien Trooper
- The Alien Troopers are the infantry of the alien army. They resemble smaller, ground-based versions of the alien scout.
- Beware of their melee attacks - if you see one jump into the air, it will most likely dart towards you. If this happens, quickly move out of the way so you won't be hit.
- They can be grabbed and thrown if they are close to you, just like KPA soldiers and alien ectomorphs.
- Alien Scout
- Alien Scouts are larger, flying aliens with tentacles. Their main weapon is a machine gun similar to the one that Prophet gives you in the ice sphere. Also, they will occasionally drop alien troopers to the ground.
- The gauss rifle is probably the most effective weapon against alien scouts. Two direct hits will easily bring them down.
- Alien Exosuit
- The Alien Exosuit is the second boss character. It is originally seen in the Exodus chapter. Due to the way the game is played, you are not able to destroy until it appears on the aircraft carrier flight deck towards the end of the game.
- When you are fighting the exosuit on the aircraft carrier, it will have three attacks. The first is the alien machine gun, which is used by the alien scout and sometimes by the alien troopers. It also has an ice gun attack. If you are hit by it, you will be frozen for a few seconds. However, while you are frozen, if you are hit by any enemy fire you will shatter and die. Thirdly, the exosuit is able to pick you up and throw you. If this happens, your nanosuit will absorb most of the damage.
- Alien Warship
- The Alien Warship is the final boss encountered at the end of the game.
- You cannot damage it with normal weapons. Instead, Helena will disable parts of it by sending a signal through your suit. These parts are then destroyable with the TAC cannon (found at the end of the game).
Divided We Fall
- CUTSCENE: While flying towards the objective by plane, Prophet explains the mission to the team: find and rescue the archaeologists on the island.
- While you're parachuting down to the island, an alien scout will hit you and you will fall into the shallows below.
- Once you swim a few meters to the beach, Prophet will restart your suit, and you will have full power.
- TIP: Open the weapons customization menu (default key is C) on your SCAR and select the silencer. This will minimize sound during firefights and attract less KPA forces.
- Continue down the beach and take out the KPA patrol. Once they are dead, Pick up their FY71s. Keep moving and meet up with Jester.
- YouTube: Crysis Contact: Divided We Fail (Time: 7:10)
- Once you get to Jester, team up with him to find Aztec. Before long, Aztec will start panicking and yelling over your radio for help.
- Follow the path between the rocks and head up the hill.
- Head through the small valley between the mountains.
- CUTSCENE: You and Jester find Aztec and the KPA patrol dead. Prophet then decides to vaporize Aztec's suit to deter the North Koreans from obtaining such advanced technology.
- Take Aztec's SCAR and move on. You can find it next to where his body was.
- Before you get out of the jungle, you'll need to take out the KPA patrol on the way. You can beat them with stealth, as Prophet suggests, or you can just go in guns blazing and kill them. There are only two of them and they're too far away from reinforcements to get backup.
- Continue through the jungle. Prophet will radio with your next objective - disable the KPA GPS jammer on the beach, which is causing interference with the tactical map of the area.
First Light
- Head down towards the beach. Take out the KPA soldiers so you can easily disable the KPA jammer. You can find the jammer near the houses on the beach. To disable it, use the panel on the side.
- TIP: Using stealth here is a good idea. KPA soldiers will call for reinforcements if you are seen. Also, keep away from the beach because patrol boats in the bay may see you and start firing on you.
- If the soldiers at the beach fire a flare to signal for reinforcements, a KPA humvee will come to their aid. It's best to take out the gunner on top from a distance or sneak up close with stealth. Head-on attacks can be dangerous.
- Continue down the road. Take out the two soldiers in the trees and move on.
- There'll be several soldiers and a humvee at the second beach. If you take fire, duck down and wait for your power and health to recharge. Also, watch out for grenades thrown by the KPA troops.
- YouTube: Crysis Contact: First Light (Time: 5:25)
- TIP: The humvee here makes for good transportation along the dirt roads. As a bonus, you'll also have access to the machine gun turret on top.
- NOTE: Depending on what difficulty you're playing on, the turret may or may not be accessible while you're driving. If you are playing on hard, you will need to switch to the turret position to use the machine gun. On the flip side, if you are playing on easy or normal, the machine gun is usable while you are driving. This principle is the same for boats and other vehicles with turret positions.
- Once they are dead, move on down the beach and take the road to the right, near the face of the mountain. The humvee provides good transportation. If you don't want to take it, stick to the road - the beaches are infested with KPA soldiers.
- A ways down the road you will see three KPA soldiers and a pickup truck to the side of the road near the palm trees.
- TIP: If you're driving a humvee, the easiest way to kill them is to run them over, because they'll be gathered in a small clump.
- Keep moving. When you get to a certain point in the road, a KPA humvee will start driving towards you.
- TIP: If you're in a vehicle, then it's easiest just to drive on past. Otherwise, take it out.
- Continue along the road. There'll be another humvee parked at the right.
- TIP: Just like the one before, if you're in a humvee or truck, skip it. If you're on foot then you'll need to kill the soldiers.
- Follow the road up to the first group of buildings.
- TIP: There's quite a few soldiers in the area, both the around the houses and on the dock to the left, so if you're running low on ammo, there's an FY71 and case of bullets on the table in the garage.
- Keep following the road past the second set of buildings and reach the KPA outpost on the peninsula.
- There's a sizable KPA force in this area so watch out. Look for machine gun emplacements on the top of the hill, and KPA soldiers on the decks around the hut in the center.
- Go inside the trailer near the middle of the entrance and find the intelligence console. Download the intelligence.
- Head back to the small group of houses. If you're in a vehicle, abandon it. Kill any KPA in the area and move on. Watch out for grenades.
- Take the short path up the hill to the houses. There will be several KPA soldiers in the area, so take them out. Watch out for grenades, and try to avoid point-blank shotgun blasts from the KPA commanders.
- Find the small path to the east of the village and follow it south until you find a small KPA barricade. If you are taking too much fire, duck behind the rocks and wait for your health to recharge.
- TIP: There will be a few soldiers and a machine gun emplacement behind the barricade. If you have any grenades, they are very useful here.
- Continue south and take the fork in the path east behind the fence and towards the cliff.
- Use your strength suit power to jump up the cliff and then continue between the sides of the mountains.
