What is the CrunchPad?
The Crunchpad was a 12-inch touchscreen web tablet. The CrunchPad was an "initiative" by TechCrunch's Michael Arrington, Louis Monier & Singapore based FusionGarage to build a computer to surf the webhttp://www.junauza.com/2009/12/joojoo-supposed-to-be-crunchpad-linux.html.
As quoted in TechCrunch - "The basic idea: The machine is as thin as possible, runs low end hardware and has a single button for powering it on and off, headphone jacks, a built in camera for video, low end speakers, and a microphone. It will have Wifi, maybe one USB port, a built in battery, half a Gigabyte of RAM, a 4-Gigabyte solid state hard drive. Data input is primarily through an iPhone-like touch screen keyboard. It runs on linux and Firefox.http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/07/21/we-want-a-dead-simple-web-tablet-help-us-build-it/"
The joint venture project between TechCrunch and Fusion Garage collapsed on November 30 when Fusion Garage informed Techcrunch that they intended to sell the product directhttp://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/30/crunchpad-end/.
