Crossing Over Controversy
An Iranian actor, who read the screenplay, complained to the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) about a scene in the film that was to portray an Iranian-American man killing his sister after discovering that she had an affair. The NIAC demanded a change in the script, stating, "Honor killings are accepted in some Middle Eastern cultures but not accepted in Iranian culture. They sometimes happen in remote areas of Iran, but there are no cases of Iranians doing this in the U.S."Guardian.co.uk: 'Honour Killing' Screenplay... (August 3, 2007)Cast Information
