He also played for the Team Lugano of the Nationalliga A Hockey League in Switzerland, starting the same year. Huet was then drafted 214th overall in the 2001 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. Huet made his second appearance in the Winter Olympics in 2002, then joined the Kings American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. Huet ended up taking over as the starting goaltender in the Capitals' 2008 Stanley Cup Playoff run, sending 17 year Capitals veteran netminder Olaf Kolzig to the bench.
