Cremant is a name applied to some sparkling wines that are made using the same process used to make champagne. However, since only sparkling wine produced in the Champagne region of France can be dubbed "champagne," sparkling wines made in other areas of France and Luxembourg that are made according to specific standards are given the label of Cremant.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/foodwine/2003276719_wineqanda27.html The grapes used to make Cremant are most often of the Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay varieties. Different blends of these grapes produce a variety of different wine flavors and brands.http://www.terroir-france.com/region/alsace_cremant.htm
Serving Information
Since Cremant is a sparkling wine, very similar to champagne, it can be served in a similar manner - as or with appetizers, desserts, fruit and cheeses. Like champagne, Cremant should be served cold and in champagne glasses. In some cases, Cremant may be purchased and used for celebrations, as a similar, but more inexpensive alternative to champagne.http://www.terroir-france.com/region/alsace_cremant.htm
