• Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American Rock band led by main songwriter and singer John Fogerty. Fogerty has gone on to have a successful solo career, while the remaining members have since reformed under the moniker Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

• Early Years

  John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook all met while growing up in California and started a band (originally named "The Golliwoggs") that was eventually signed to Fantasy Records. After a brief stint in the Army Reserve, Fogerty and Clifford re-named the band Creedence Clearwater Revival and recorded their self-titled debut album in 1968.

• Success

  After the success of their debut album, the group went on to tour to support it before going back into the studio to record the follow-up. 1969's Bayou Country was a smash hit and spawned the hits "Bad Moon Rising", "Lodi" and the Ike and Tina Turner cover "Proud Mary". After a string of hit albums and singles, the band broke up in 1972.
