Creative Labs is the American subsidiary of Creative Technology, a singapore based manufacturer of computer multimedia products. Creative Technology was originally founded by Sim Wong Hoo on July 1, 1981. One of Creative's most innovative devices was the development of the stadalone sound card.

Sound Blaster
When Creative started adapting PCs for the Chinese language, they developed an audio enhancer to reproduce the complex phonetics of the language. Creative eventually developed the Sound Blaster, the first sound card to combine on-board music synthesizer, digital audio, MIDI interface and a joystick port. The Sound Blaster served as the standard sound card for years. -
