Newmark earned his degree in computer science from Case Western Reserve University. He started Craigslist in San Francisco in 1995 as a hobby, but by 1999, it had become apparent that the idea was taking off and would require ongoing support and collaboration.Soon after that, Craigslist expanded into other cities, and is currently available in 450 locations worldwide. Today, the company has 25 employees and is available in German and Spanish in addition to English. The current CEO is Jim Buckmaster.
