Craig Monroe is an outfielder for Major League Baseball's Minnesota Twins. After attended Texas High School in Texarkana, TX, Monroe was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 8th round of the 1995 amateur draft. After six years a minor league prospect, Monroe made his debut for the Rangers on July 28, 2001. Monroe played 28 games for the Rangers before being selected off waivers by the Detroit Tigers in 2002. Monroe played six seasons in Detroit, including a 2006 campaign where he hit .255 Batting Average, with 28 Home Run, and 92 Runs Batted In. Mid-way through the 2007 season, the Tigers traded Monroe and cash to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Clay Rapada. Preceding the 2008 season, the The Twins acquired Monroe from the Tigers for a player to be named later.
Strengths
Monroe hits lefties extremely well.
Weaknesses
Monroe strikes out too frequently, and doesn't draw many walks. Monroe does not excel defensively, and cannot play centerfield.
