    Prior to his NFL career, Davis played wide receiver for Louisiana State University. In his freshman season at LSU, he helped the team win the BCS Championship Game and the national championship in 2003. Over his four year college career, Davis totaled 141 receptions, 2117 yards and seven touchdowns.

    While in college he attended the Manning Passing Academy during the summer of 2006. He gained valuable experience at the academy, working with Super Bowl champion quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning.

    Davis was selected 30th overall in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. Following the draft, Davis signed a reported five year $11 million contract on July 23, 2007.
