Crab cakes are an American dish containing crab meat, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onions, and seasonings. These ingredients are mixed and formed into patties and fried. Crab cakes can be served as an appetizer or an entree with side dishes such as rice pilaf.
Types
- There are two different types of crab cakes, one is the boardwalk style crab cake. This type of crab cake is usually stuffed with filling then breaded, deep fried and served on a bun.
- The restaurant style crab cakes, also known as gourmet crab cakes are made with chunks of crab meat and served as an open faced sandwich.
Make it Spicy
- For added punch to any recipe add:
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
