Courtney Love's star rose as much for her outlandish public behavior and turbulent marriage to Nirvana's Kurt Cobain as for her brash alternative rock. Geffen Records released her band Hole's ironically titled and successful Live Through This exactly one week after Cobain's death.
It was reported on December 14, 2009, that Courtney Love lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Custody of the minor child was given to grandmother Wendy O'Connor and aunt Kimberly Dawn Cobain.
Kurt Cobain's Estate
Kurt Cobain's estate was divided among various family members including Love and his daughter Frances Bean upon his death. Love hired an accountant in April of 2009 after discovering that her money had vanished. It is being alleged that individuals in charge of the estate used Cobain's, Love's and their daughter's social security numbers to steal and launder more than $30 million and $500 million in real estate. The case is currently being investigated.myFoxla: Love Says Cobain's Estate Looted (April 7, 2009) PerezHilton: Courtney Love Lost Her Money (April 7, 2009)
