Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 450ºF (232ºC). This temperature aids in creating that golden brown color on top of the turkey.
3. If the turkey has not been stuffed, let it cook for 12 minutes per pound. If is has been stuffed, leave it in for 15 minutes per pound.
While the turkey cooks, check to see if its top has turned golden brown. After it has, reduce the heat to 350ºF (177ºC) and continue cooking.
4. Use a meat thermometer to check your turkey's internal temperature. According to the USDA, stuffing should achieve a temperature of at least 165ºF (177ºC) in order for it to be safe to consume. The innermost portion of the wing and thigh of the turkey, as well as the largest part of the breast, should also be at least 165ºF (74ºC).
Once the time has passed and the turkey is at this temperature, carefully remove it from the oven.
*Tip: The thighs take longer to cook than the rest of the turkey. When waiting for the thighs to cook, the rest of the turkey sometimes dries out slightly.
Enjoy!
