Sort the Loop Library

1. Access the loop library by clicking on the "eye" button at the bottom right corner.

2. When the library opens, you can sort through it in two ways.

The music note icon organizes the loops library into categories by buttons according to your clicks. For example, if you click "Rock" it will take away all other instrument options and genre options that are not categorized under "Rock." The four columns narrow down loop options by genre, instrument and type of sound.

The column icon formats the same information as the music note icon. When you select an option in the left column, it will supply a new column of options that fall into the category.

Selecting from the second column will provide a new column of choices to narrow down your specification.

Preview the Loop

After using the loop library to sort through the genres, instruments and sounds, choose a clip that is a appropriate for your project. Make sure you preview the loop with your project before adding it in.

Insert the Loop into Track

1. Click and drag your selected loop over to the beginning of your project timeline.

2. GarageBand will automatically make a new track, give it an icon and name it.

3. Click and drag the loop button to extend the loop through the track.
