  • MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It is a method of communication for electronic instruments, computers, MIDI controllers and similar devices to synchronize.
  • Unlike regular instruments, MIDI does not transmit audio signals.
  • The MIDI controller sends notices about musical notation to GarageBand. GarageBand then takes the messages and creates notes on the project timeline. You can view these notes in the track editor window.
Viewing and Editing MIDI Notes

Open the track editor window by clicking on the Track Editor button in the bottom left corner.

The track editor window will pop up.  In the track editor window, the individual notes appear as they were entered.

Clicking on a note will tell you additional information about it, such as when it was played, how long it was played and how hard it was played. You can use the functions to edit the MIDI notes
