Using the Loop Button, Metronome and Master Volume

To the right of the time code LCD screen you can find the Loop button, the Metronome button and the master volume control. These tools will help you control the music of your GarageBand project.

The Loop Button

The Loop button allows you to play specific regions of the audio over and over in a cycle. When you click it, the button will turn blue and a yellow ruler will appear above the track timeline.

When the yellow ruler appears over the track, you can click and drag to place it over the part of the song you want to cycle. When you play the song, GarageBand will start playing at the beginning of the ruler and will seamlessly repeat this section of the song by jumping back to the beginning of the ruler.

You can edit the loop region by clicking and dragging the ends of the yellow ruler to make theregion shorter or longer. You can also click and drag the ruler to any location on the timeline.

The Metronome and Master Volume

To the right of the Loop button you'll find the Metronome button. Clicking this button will provide a computerized beat that follows the selected tempo of the song. If the tempo is set to 120, the metronome will beat 120 times per minute.

The master volume slider is on the right of the Metronome button. This slider will increase or decrease the overall volume of the song.
