The bottom of your GarageBand interface has a row of five buttons that control the playback and recording of your music composition.
Transport Buttons
Rewind
The Rewind button moves the playmarker one measure backwards when you click it once. This isa quick way to move around the song without jumping too far.
Fast Forward
The Fast Forward button moves the playmarker one measure forward with each click.
Beginning of Song
The single back arrow, the Beginning of Song button, jumps the playmarker to the very beginning of the song.
When the Play button is clicked, this single back arrow turns into a square Stop button. The Stop button will stop the song while it's playing. After you click it, it will return to a single back arrow.
Play
The single forward arrow, the Play button, starts playing the GarageBand song.
While a song is playing, you can click the Play button to stop the song. While recording, you can click the Play button to stop both the recording and the song playback.
Record
The Record button is the red circle in the transport. When you click it, it will start recording audio input from your guitar, vocals or software instrument. Click it again to stop just the recording, although the song playback will continue. You must click Stop orPlay to stop both the playback and recording.
