The time code screen at the bottom of the GarageBand window provides different ways to look at time in the song. You can switch between the different time code displays by clicking on the up or down arrow on the left side of the screen.
Display 1: Measure, Bar, Beat and Count
The first display is represented by a music note icon in the left of the time code screen. This display contains the breakdown of the measure, bar, beat and count where the playmarker is currently located in the song. This feature is helpful for structuring your song into verses or choruses and keeping track of measurements.
Display 2: Regular Time
Click the arrow again to get the regular time display, which is marked by a clock icon. This screen shows the hours, minutes and seconds of the playmarker's location in the song. This feature allows you to jump to a specific time within the song.
Display 3: Key, Tempo and Time Signature
Click the arrow again to get the key, tempo and time signature display screen. The key selection shows you the proper scales for the song and the tempo selection sets how fast the song is. The time signature selection sets the number of beats per measure.
Display 4: Tuner
Click the arrow again to get the built-in tuner display. You can use this feature to tune a guitar or see what notes your vocals are hitting.
