When you want to add a new loop to your GarageBand project, it's a good idea to preview it beforehand so that you know how it will sound. You can preview the loop alone or with your song project.

Go to Loop Library

Go to the loop library by clicking on the "eye" icon in the bottom right corner. Use the genre and instrument categories to find a loop for your song.

Play the Loop

When you click on the loop it will start playing. Clicking it a second time will stop it.

Preview the Song

You can also preview how the loop will sound with the rest of the song project. First play your song. Then click on the loop you want to preview. The loop and song will play together.
