Step 1: Basic Head, Body and Appendages

1. For the head, draw a circle.

2. For the body, draw a curved bean shape attached to the head. The curved part is the neck.

3. For the tail, start at the back of the body. Draw a line curving up and to the right, then another line below it. Add a third line curving down and left, starting from the top of the previous line.

4. For the left foreleg, draw two diagonal lines down and slightly left from the body, starting inside the body near the center part of the bean shape.

5. For the left hind leg, follow the hindquarters down to a sharp angle, then draw a diagonal line down and slightly right. Draw a curved line to the left of it, starting inside the body. For the right hind leg, draw a curved line to the left of the last line you drew.

6. For the right foreleg, draw two diagonal lines projecting left and slightly down from the body. These should start to the left of the other foreleg.

7. On the head, draw a line of action from the top right to the bottom left.

Step 2: Basic Hair, Nose and Mouth

1. For the basis of the hair, draw a large curve above the head, mimicking the curve of the top of the head. The left part of it should stay above the head, and to the right, it should extend down to the body, right near the base of the tail.

2. Draw a curve down from the top of the circle (to the left of the line of action) to the left side of the circle. For the nose, continue the curve outside the circle, then curve outward and back up to the very bottom of the line of action.

3. For the mouth, draw a steep curve down from the base of the nose, then continue the line to the right to meet the neck.

Step 3: Hair

1. Draw a curved vertical line up from the line of action, near its top. Turn this line into an upside-down u-shaped line hanging towards the nose. Add a horizontal line going to the left, then curve right, making a sharp point. Curve back up to meet the basis of the hair.

2. The curved line that is the basis of the hair can now be changed to add details. At the center of this line, above and to the right of the upside-down u-shaped line, draw a thin oval. To the right of this, add two bumps to the hair line, then a large bump, then another bump, and a final bump to overlap the body, then a point.

3. Come back up from this point, going upward and to the left, then to the right. Add a bump, then a larger one. The rest of the hair should be formed by an ear shape. Draw this with a triangle to the right of the top of the line of action, connected to that line. In the ear, add a small, curved vertical line.

Step 4: Eyes

1. For the left eye (to our right), draw an oval to the right of the line of action. Add a semi-circle in the top right corner of the oval. Where the semi-circle's left side meets the outer edge of the eye, draw a line curving down to the bottom. At the bottom of this line, projecting right, draw a small rectangle. Connect the rectangle to the semi-circle with a curved line. To the right of this line, draw a tiny circle.

2. In the right eye, formed by the curve above the nose, draw an oval touching the right side. At the top of this oval, add a semi-circle. Near the bottom of the oval, draw a tiny circle.

3. Add a small curve inside the nose. For eyelashes, draw three short vertical lines at the top of each eye. Add three more at the bottom of the eye on our right.

Step 5: Inking

Slowly and carefully ink in your drawing using a black marker, along with a ballpoint pen for the details. Make sure to go from right to left, in order to avoid smudging fresh ink. Fill in each eye in the area just around the smallest circle.
