This technique uses a false hairline to create the appearance of a pixie haircut without actually cutting the hair. This works well if you have longer front layers and want to make your haircut look shorter.

What You'll Need

  • Hair clips
  • Bobby pins
  • A comb
  • Hair pomade
Step 1: Clip Off Hairline

Start by clipping off your hairline where you want to make the hair sleek. This will give the haircut the appearance of being shorter than it actually is.

Section off about an inch in from the hairline and clip away the hair behind it.

Step 2: Pin Down Hairline

Working in the section you created, start combing the hairline down on either side of the part.

Use bobby pins to keep the hair down, inserting pins all the way along the hairline. Make sure the hair lies as flat as possible to the head.

Step 3: Lay Down Front Hair

Now you can undo the clips keeping the rest of the hair back. Lay the front hair over the hairline you pinned down.

If any part of the front hair is puffing up, you can use a blow dryer to push it down with heat. Pin in any strands of the hairline that are sticking out.

Finally, use some hair pomade or gel to add texture to the hair. Take out pieces of the front and pull the product through them.
