Origin of Country Music In the United States
This form of music appears to have been started as a blend of music found in the Southern part of the Untied States and around the Appalachian Mountains with roots from Folk Music, Celtic Music, Gospel Music and a form of Old Time Music[1]
Through the years, there have been many terms to describe this type of music including: Hillbilly Music which was soon deemed to be degrading; then it was called Country/Western and now generally the music is called just plain Country.[2]
