Country music performances highlighted the night of the Academy of Country Music awards. The event was held on April 18, 2010 and showcasing country music stars during the evening between recognizing award winners. The ACM has been hosting awards ceremonies since 1963 and televising them since 1966. The evening’s host, Reba McEntire, is the triple treat for this event. Along with hosting she also performed and was nominated in the Top Female Vocalist of the Year category. Performance by Brooks & Dunn
Brooks & Dunn are a household name in the country music industry, and have been so for quite some time. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn rank the highest in sales as a duo in country music history. They will also receive the Academy’s Milestone Award in recognition of their 20-year record-breaking career. As of today they have acquired 26 Country Music Awards. Eight of those awards were consecutive wins in the Top Vocal Duo category.

This will be the last performance at the awards show by the Country Music duo as they split after one last tour. The fan voted selection for the performance was My Maria. The duo joked about being in Therapy with Brett Farve to figure out how to waffle on the decision to quit.
Performance by Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins
Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins are nominated together for Vocal Event of the Year for their project “Hillbilly Bone.” Shelton was nominated for the same category in 2003 for his song “The Truth About Men” and has also been nominated previously for Top New Male Vocalist. Adkins has won the categories of Top New Male Vocalist and Single Record of the Year previously.
Performance by Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood, nominated for six awards this year, will perform during the awards show. Underwood is nominated for Entertainer of the Year again this year, an award she won last year. A selection this year would make her the first female to win two Entertainer of the Year awards. Other nominations for Underwood include Song of the Year for Cowboy Casanova, and Vocal Event of the Year for I Told You So for her performance with Randy Travis. Top Female Vocalist and Album of the Year for Play On round out her nominations for the 2010 awards.

Lady Antebellum has the most ACM Award nominations this year with seven nominations. Holding fifteen academy awards, country music star Tim McGraw will perform at this years event. McGraw was recognized in 2006 with a Career Achievement Award. Toby Keith - Stand Up for Cancer
Toby Keith's performance for the 2010 ACM Awards was a tribute to his friend and fellow musician Wayman Tisdale who lost his battle with cancer shortly after the 2009 ACM awards. Tisdale's friend and fellow jazz musician Dave Koz joins Toby for the performance which is available for purchase on iTunes with all proceeds going to the fight against cancer.
