History

The ACM awards are an annual presentation which began in 1963 to recognize the best performances and performers in the past year. The winners are decided by a three round voting process where ACM Membership nominates and selects the winners. Continuing the fan based selection of the past two years, the ACM allows fan voting for the Entertainer of the Year. Also, two years ago ACM started allowing fans to choose the Top New Solo Vocalist, Top New Vocal Group and Top New Vocal Duo. The voting for the three “Top New” categories has occurred and those three winners will be fan selected also for the award of “Top New Artist” Voting is handled through the website www.voteACM.com and winners of Entertainer of the Year and Top New Artist are announced during the awards ceremony.
