Country music has several award shows each year that reward the work of the country musicians.
There are three main award shows each year for the country musician. The Country Music Association Award Show, the Academy of Country Music award show and the Country Music Television Awards show.
Academy of Country Music Awards
The Academy of Country Music Awards have been around for 40 years now and still continues to grow, with millions of viewers around the world tuning in annually. The Country Music Awards was founded in 1958. The company started with 233 members and now has more than 6,000 members in 41 countries around the world. The awards aired for the first time in 1969 on NBC, and in 1972, it changed hands and aired on CBS. The judging process takes more than 40 broadcasting professionals. Judging is done in two rounds where the first round decides the finalists and the second round decides the winners in each category. Some of the Country Music Awards Show categories include Radio Station of the Year, Broadcast Personality of the Year, and National Broadcast Personality of the Year. These awards are done annually by the Country Music Association.
Country Music Association Awards
The Country Music Association awards show also known as the CMA Awards, was conceived in 1967 and the winners and nominees are both chosen by Country music professionals. There are nominations given by anyone in the country music profession and then the top twenty are chosen to be the nominees. the professionals are the ones that vote and choose the winners so it is really a voting by peer method. The 2010 Country Music Awards Show was live on CBS Sunday, April 18 and was hosted by Reba McEntire from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Entertainer of the Year is one of the top awards given out by the Country Music Association, and this years contenders include Lady Antebellum , Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Sugarland.Carrie Underwood won the 2010 Entertainer of the Year award.
Country Music Television Awards
The Country Music Television awards are based on fan votes for their favorite videos at the CMT.com website. The videos that have been nominated and are available to be voted on must have been shown between February 2009 and March 1, 2010. The award show will be held on June 9, 2010 and will be shown on the Country Music Television ( CMT).
