Counter-Strike (commonly referred to as CS) is a tactical first-person shooter video game by Valve Software. It was originally a multiplayer modification for Half-Life, which involved the player in terrorist vs. counter-terrorist situations. Due to critical success, it was made into a commercially-available, stand-alone game.

Counter-Strike allows players to join either a terrorist or counter-terrorist team. Each team must complete missions and/or eliminate the opposite team. A player must choose one of eight different default character models. Monetary bonuses are awarded to players for winning a round, losing a round, killing an enemy, being the first to instruct a hostage to follow, rescuing a hostage or planting the bomb.

Lawyer, Jack Thompson claims that Counter-Strike had trained the perpetrators of the Virginia Tech Massacre and Northern Illinois University Shooting. Thompson claims that the game "Drills you and gives you scenarios on how to kill them [and] gets you to kill them with your heart rate lower."

1. Wallhacks: Allowing players to see through walls
2. Speedhacks: Gives the player increased speed
3. No recoil: Keeps the players gun shooting straight on the y axis without a kickback
4. Aimbots: Helps the player aim at enemies
5. ESP: Shows textual information about the enemy, including health and distance
6. Barrel hack: Shows a line of where an enemy is looking
7. Anti-flash and anti-smoke: Remove the flashband and smoke grenade effect
