Cough

A Cough is the body's way of clearing foreign substances from the air passages. While coughing can often be bothersome, it is a way for the body to protect and heal itself from pathogens.

There are two types of coughing, acute and chronic. Depending on the type of cough a patient has, treatments vary. A physician is essential in prescribing the proper treatment for a cough. It is important that children under the age of fourteen are not given over-the-counter cough medicine.

Types

  1. Acute: Short term, most common
  2. Chronic: Long term, 2-3 weeks
