The Cotton Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played in Arlington, Texas as Cowboys Stadium. Prior to the January 2010 game, the contest was played at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas. As part of the 2010-11 college football season, the 2011 Cotton Bowl featured the 11th-ranked LSU Tigers from the SEC defeating the 17th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies from the Big 12 by a score of 41 to 24.http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=310070245 The game took place on January 7, 2011, starting at 8:00 p.m. EST and aired on FOX. The first Cotton Bowl was played on January 1, 1937. 17,000 people watched the TCU Horned Frogs defeat the Marquette Golden Eagles 16-6. The game went through a few name changes during the 1980s and 1990s, becoming the Mobil Cotton Bowl Classic from 1989 to 1995, the Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl Classic from 1996 to 1999 and the SBC Communications Cotton Bowl Classic from 2000 to 2005.http://www.attcottonbowl.com/fan-zone/about-classic/past-classics/
Throughout the years, a number of players who participated in the Cotton Bowl Classic won the Heisman Trophy. 1954 Cotton Bowl "Bench Tackle"
AT&T, the sponsor of the Cotton Bowl Classic, presented the top moments from throughout the years of the game, including this moment which they deemed the number-one moment. In the 1954 Cotton Bowl between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Rice Owls, Dicky Maegle tallied 265 rushing yards, the most of any player in the game up to that point. On one play, Maegal was tackled by a player who came off of the Alabama bench, which caused the referees to award Maegle a 95-yard touchdown.
