Costa Rica Lodging Options
There are many locations that specialize in certain activities and some places offer a wide range of activities. For instance, in Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, on the southwest corner of the Nicoya Peninsula, there is the Horizon Ocean View Hotel and Yoga Center which offers travelers a place where they can rest and restore their bodies with daily yoga practice and vegetarian meals. There are yoga hotels in the Osa Peninsula that are also provide great opportunities for wildlife viewing and hikes.
Near the active volcano of Arenal in Fortuna, you can find Tabacén Grand Spa Thermal Resort, where the climate is mild and temperate. Many other hotels have thermal spas in Costa Rica, including those near the older volcano Miravalles between the towns of Guayabo and La Fortuna in Guancaste province, such as Guyacán (budget), Yoko (moderate), and Thermomania (moderate).
If surfing is your interest, you might want to consider the boutique hotel Blue Surf Sanctuary in Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, which has a 2 minute walk to a beach with great consistent waves. You can also practice your yoga there. Jaco and Tamarindo, which are both north of Mal Pais, are also very popular with surfers and there are many hotels on the beach. You can also find guides that will take you to sites that suite your level of skill.
