Corset Jeans

Corset Jeans are extremely high waisted jeans that were considered a hot fashion trend for 2007. Part skinny jean, part corset, these machine washable jeans were first found at the London retailer Topshop and had various incarnations by various designers and celebrities such as Suzanne Somers.

A corset is a garment designed to make a woman's body conform to a certain shape with the help of wiring and heavy fabric. First used in the 16th Century, their popularity peaked in the 19th Century and then declined by the 20th Century. Typically made of cloth or leather the garment is stiffened with boning or stays which are inserted into each panel. Pulled together with lacing, the corset slims the waist and creates a curvy silhouette.
