American novelist Cormac McCarthy's most recent novel is the post-apocalyptic father-son adventure The Road. His previous novel, the western No Country for Old Men, was adapted into a motion picture directed by The Coen Brothers. The film was awarded Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2008 Oscars.
