On March 11, 2010, the coroner's office determined that Haim's death was caused by a combination of an enlarged heart, pulmonary congestion and water in his lungs. The coroner's office won't comment on the findings, and will not be releasing an official cause of death until toxicology test results are in.http://www.actressarchives.com/news.php?id=21661
Those close to Haim were attempting to steer many in the media from speculating that Haim's death was a direct result of a drug overdose. The findings from the coroner's office, while inconclusive, did provide some public proof for his manager Mark Heaslip and former fiancee Tiffany Shepis to help refute speculate.http://www.actressarchives.com/news.php?id=21661
Haim's mother Judy told Access Hollywood that she was informed of the coroner's findings and she was planning to bury her son in his native Toronto.http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/detail.jsp?contentId=171302
E! News also recently reported that Haim had just begun dating Daisy de la Hoya, the star of the VH1 reality series Daisy of Love. Apparently, she knew of his struggles despite having just started seeing the former star of The Lost Boys. "Daisy knew Corey was doing a lot of drugs—especially prescription meds," a source said. "She thought he was kind and talented, and she wanted to rescue him. She became his confidant over the last few weeks. He told her a lot.http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b171143_corey_haim_began_dating_vh1_reality.html
TMZ had reported that there were four prescription drugs found in Haim's apartment. These drugs included Vicodin, Valium, Haloperidol, and a muscle relaxer called Soma.http://www.tmz.com/2010/03/11/corey-haim-vicodin-valium-soma-pills-bottles-death-drugs-drug-overdose/
Reports indicate that a Los Angeles area psychiatrist prescribed all four medications for Haim on the same day. Appearing on Larry King Live, Haim's best friend and fellow former child star Corey Feldman elaborated on the new push Haim was making to clean up his life. In speaking about the new drugs being prescribed to Haim by the psychiatrist, Feldman siad to Kings, "Let's just say that they may not have corresponded properly with the medications that he was currently taking." http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20350454,00.html
Feldman also noticed a significant change following the diagnosis of cancer in his mother. "He shaped up. He got his act together," Feldman said. "When his mom got ill, it was the first time I ever saw Corey grow up." http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20350454,00.html
