Coreg (Carvedilol) is beta blocker, used in the management of heart disease. Coreg acts by lowering one's heart rate and the contraction strength by blocking catecholamines from binding beta receptors. This in turn, decreases the workload of the heart and prevents ischemia. Also, blood vessel constriction is decreased by blocking alpha-1 receptors, thereby lowering blood pressure.
