  • CORE is a first-person shooter for the Nintendo DS. The game casts players as a soldier assigned to investigate a mysterious science lab where communications with the outside world has ceased. The game makes use of the DS' touch-screen for most of its controls, including aiming, shooting and looking around. It is designed with a mature audience of hardcore gamers in mind. CORE will be released on April 14, 2009.
  • About CORE

CORE is a sci-fi shooter that puts players in the role of an elite soldier named Jason Crane. In the year 2028, a massive meteor slams into California's Mojave Desert. Scientists quickly establish a lab there to perform experiments and uncover the mysteries of the meteor. They call the lab CORE. Twenty years pass, however, and then one day all communications from CORE completely shut off. Crane is sent in as part of a secret mission to infiltrate CORE and discover what has really been going on there.

Gameplay unfolds in 3D and follows the basic formula of a first-person shooter in the vein of Doom. You guide Crane through the laboratory, shooting down any enemies who try to kill you. Most actions are performed using the touch screen, which is used to look, aim and shoot as well as other miscellaneous activities like swiping key cards and more. The gameplay has a defensive bent - instead of simply running around and shooting things, you have to often dive behind cover and pay attention to lost health. Each enemy has a specific attack pattern that has to be learned in order to to fight them effectively, as well.IGN: CORE Impressions (January 30, 2009)
