Coosje van Bruggen

In collaboration with her husband Claes Oldenburg, Dutch-born art historian, critic and sculptor Coosje van Bruggen created over 40 large-scale art installments which are on display at parks, museums and urban centers worldwide. Van Bruggen authored dozens of essays and critiques of contemporary artists, including Bruce Nauman and Gerhard Richter. Van Bruggen passed away at her Los Angeles home at age 66. Works and Awards

Coosje van Bruggen and Claes Oldenburg's first met and began working together in 1976. Between 1977 and 2009, they created and erected over 40 large scale works, which are on display all over the world. The pair have been featured at more than 30 exhibitions at major museums in several nations. The couple was awarded the Distinction in Sculpture by the New York Sculpture Center in and the Lifetime Achievement Award from Washington DC's International Sculpture Center in 1994.
