Connie Hawkins is a hall of fame professional basketball player who played for Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pipers of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Early Career
Hawkins was expelled at University of Iowa for being involved in a gambling and point-shaving scandal as a freshman. After one year at Iowa, he was named Most Valuable Player of the American Basketball League with the Pittsburgh Rens. He played with the Harlem Globetrotters from 1964 to 1966. NBA Career Transactions
In 1969, he was proved to be innocent from any wrongdoing in the gambling scandal he was involved. His lawsuit made the NBA settled with him, paying him a cash settlement, and assigned his rights to the expansion Phoenix Suns. After four seasons with the Suns, he was traded to Los Angeles Lakers and played for one season.
