  • History

The Connemara pony is believed to have arrived in Ireland along with the ancient Celts. Though the first society of Connemara breeders wasn't formed until 1923, the Connemara was refined for hundreds of years in the the mountainous western Irish region for which it is named. This venerated work and companion animal literally helped to build Ireland, hauling rock, fertilizer, food and turf.American Connemara Pony Society: [1]
