The city of Concord, North Carolina was founded in 1795 after a two year dispute as to where the county seat of Cabarrus County should be located. Concord is in close proximity to the border of Virgina.http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=Concord,%20NC%20Map&ie=UTF8&om=1&source=embed
It got the name Concord because of this dispute and the word concord means harmony. The town was placed near the Indian Trading Path and west of Three Mile Branch on a plot of twenty six acres. In 1796 the land was split into plots and sold at public auction. Records of the city before March 1837 have been lost. One of the earliest laws for the city was no one was allowed to run their horses through the streets of Concord.http://www.ci.concord.nc.us/Portals/0/Documents/Resident/history_of_concord.pdf
