Alvin Poussaint and Bill Cosby's book Come On People is a look at the African American community's struggles to rise out of poverty and hardship. Cosby and Poussaint claim that African American parents taking a more active role in their children's lives, as well as the children taking a more conscious role and personal responsibility in society is a necessary step to help lift the poverty-stricken out of poverty.
