Colt McCoy, star quarterback for the Texas Longhorns football team, was injured during the opening drive of the 2010 BCS Championship Game on January 7, 2010. He left the field after suffering an apparent shoulder injury. According to ESPN, McCoy would not return to the game.
McCoy could later be seen walking within the Rose Bowl stadium en route to undergo an x-ray. Cameras showed McCoy leaving the medical area less than happy. McCoy, who was joined by his father in the locker room, was described as "emotional."
McCoy was hit by Marcell Darius of the Alabama Crimson Tide less than four minutes into the game. Freshman quarterback Garrett Gilbert took over in the game.
