Colorado is situated in the southwestern or Rocky Mountain region of the United States. Located with in the state is four national parks, six national monuments, two national historic sites and three national historic trails that run through, including the Pony Express National Historic Trail. And with over 40 state parks, there is always something to see and/or do in Colorado.
Attractions
The most "popular" winter attraction and activity in Colorado is its skiing. It has been said that that the state "attracts more skiers per day than other Western [state];" some of the more visited resorts are in Aspen, Vail and Summit County. The "most popular" resort is the Vail Resort at Vail Mountain. Lodging
There are a variety of lodging options in Colorado; from "historic lodges to ritzy hotels" to family-run bed and breakfasts,Colorado Tourism Office: Colorado Lodging there is an option, and price range, for anyone. There are the basic hotel chains, such as Best Western, Days Inn, Comfort Inn and even Motel 6. The state also has some "magnificent but pricey historic hotels" that are worth a try.
